Tarangire National Park
After
breakfast at the lodge, it’s time to depart Arusha and drive towards Tarangire
National Park, which is one of Northern Tanzania’s underrated gems. It’s home
to huge herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra and
giraffe,
as well as buffalo and a healthy population of big cats. Enjoy the picturesque
views across the Tarangire River during a picnic lunch, then continue to The Manor Ngorongoro for the night near
Ngorongoro Crater.
Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast at your lodge, drive towards Lake Manyara National Park, which was hailed by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I have ever seen”. Go in search of the park’s unique tree-climbing lions and the pink flamingos that cluster on the lake shores, as well as hippos and myriad other big game species. In the afternoon, continue to your lodge for a stroll around the picturesque grounds or embark on a hike to a nearby coffee plantation. Overnight The Manor Ngorongoro.
Ngorongoro Crater
Following breakfast, you’ll travel to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s renowned for its natural beauty. Descend into the crater to spot some of its 25,000 wildlife species and myriad birdlife, with the towering walls of this volcanic caldera acting as a natural enclosure. Spend the afternoon exploring the crater’s dense forests, sprawling grasslands and large soda lake before returning to your accommodation for the night.
