Liuwa Safari & Tours
Designated as a "game reserve" since the 19th century by the Lozi people, entrusted with wildlife care by their Litunga (king), Liuwa Plains National Park received official government recognition in 1972.
Its remote location in Zambia's far western region guarantees an exceptionally pristine wildlife encounter, where expansive herds of wildebeest, wild dogs, and lions thrive on the park's golden plains. The park is also a haven for numerous bird species, providing excellent opportunities for off-the-beaten-path birdwatching adventures.
A local Lozi legend recounts the tale of a Litunga who planted his walking stick on the plains, and it miraculously grew into a massive mutata tree, which still stands within the national park today.
