Lake Manyara National Park, Is located in northern part of Tanzania, most of the Lodges and camps in that area are 45-minutes drive from the Manyara Airstrip lodges and camps that use this airstrip are Neptune Ngorongoro Lodge, Kilima Moja Lodge Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro crater Lodge, Gibbs farm House and Highlands Asilia Lodge. There are three main airports within Tanzania that offer connecting flights to Lake Manyara Airstrip; Arusha Airport (ARK) for domestic flights only, Julius Nyerere International in Dar Es Salaam (DAR) and Kilimanjaro International (JRO).

ARRIVAL FROM KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL (JRO)

Kilimanjaro International is serviced by a number of international airline carriers, including Qatar Airways, Kenya Airways, Rwanda Airways, KLM, Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines. Subject to availability, it is possible to board a flight connecting to Manyara Airstrip directly from Kilimanjaro International for international flight arrivals before 12:00 noon. The flight time from Kilimajaro International to Manyara Airstrip is approximately forty five minutes. For international flight arrivals before 10:15am, there is also the option of a one hour land transfer to Arusha Airport, from where you may board a connecting flight to Manyara at 1:00pm. Should your international flight arrival time not allow for a same-day connecting flight to Manyara Airstrip, we would be happy to assist you with making airport transfer and overnight accommodation arrangements in Arusha. Just a short distance from Arusha Airport, a selection of luxurious accommodations offer the opportunity to relax into your holiday experience before catching your next flight to Manyara airstrip and check in at your preferred Lodge the next day.   

Jomo Kenyatta International airport, in Nairobi, Kenya (NBO), also offers numerous connections throughout the day to Kilimanjaro International airport (JRO).  Jomo Kenyatta International is serviced by a number of international airline carriers, including British Airways, Air France, United Airlines, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Delta, Lufthansa, Ethiopian Airlines and Etihad.

ARRIVAL FROM NAIROBI AIRPORT (JOMO KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL)

Jomo Kenyatta International airport, in Nairobi, Kenya (NBO), offers a wide number of international flight connections and from there, you may transit on to Tanzania via numerous connections throughout the day to Kilimanjaro International airport (JRO). If your international flight lands into Nairobi before 7:00 am, you may have the option to connect onto a flight to Lake Manyara airstrip or you can board a short flight to Kilimanjaro International to connect on to Manyara Airstrip on the same day (listed above).  For arrivals into Nairobi later in the day, it is possible to board a late afternoon flight to Kilimanjaro International, from where our Safari Advisors would be happy to assist you with making airport transfer and overnight accommodation arrangements in Arusha. Alternatively, you may choose to stay the night in Nairobi and board the early morning flight to Kilimanjaro International to connect onwards to Manyara Airstrip. If your international flight arrives into Nairobi by early afternoon, there is also the option to charter a private flight directly to Lake Manyara the same day (see Charter Flights below).

ARRIVAL FROM ARUSHA AIRPORT (ARK)

Several daily flights to Lake Manyara are offered from Arusha Airport by a choice of local airlines, with the latest departure time currently scheduled at 1:00 pm. The direct flight time between Arusha Airport and Lake Manyara Airstrip is approximately 30 minutes.

ARRIVAL FROM JULIUS NYERERE INTERNATIONAL IN DAR ES SALAAM (DAR)

Julius Nyerere International is serviced by a number of international airline carriers, including Emirates, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Swiss, South African Airlines and KLM. For international flight arrivals before 7.30am, it is possible to board a connecting flight to Lake Manyara Airstrip from the airport's domestic terminal (five minute taxi ride from the international terminal), with a flight time of approximately two hours. Alternatively, connecting domestic flights are available to Kilimanjaro International (listed above).

CHARTER FLIGHTS

A choice of private charter aircraft are also available for all of the above mentioned flight routes to allow direct connections to Lake Manyara Airstrip without any other stops en route. Charter flights offer the comfort of a private, pressurized cabin, no weight restriction for luggage and may land at Lake Manyara Airstrip any time during daylight hours (sunset falls between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm seasonally). LOCAL AIRLINES AND LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS

Local airlines include Air Excel, Coastal Aviation, Regional Air, Auric Air and Flightlink . These airlines use Cessna Grand Caravans or similar aircraft, which carry 9 to 13 passengers. Luggage is restricted to 15 kg per passenger and must be carried in soft sided bags or suitcases (no hard shell cases).
