The dry months from June to October are generally considered the best months to visit Kenya, with little rainfall to dampen your sightseeing. Reduced vegetation makes wildlife spotting easier in Nairobi National Park while the Great Wildebeest Migration is at its best in the nearby Maasai Mara National Reserve from July to September.
Light rains fall across Kenya from November through to December, transforming the landscapes a lush green. This is followed by the hot and dry season from January through to mid-March when midday temperatures can soar before the release of the heaviest rains from mid-March to May. These downpours attract myriad birdlife to Kenya’s lakes but can cause havoc with travel logistics as some roads become impassable and several lodges close down for the season.
